NOTICE Department of the Interior, National Park Service: Notice of Realty Action for a Proposed Exchange of Federally-owned land for privately-owned land, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Gwinnett County, Georgia. 1. Federally-owned land which was acquired by the National Park Service has been determined to be suitable for disposal by exchange. The authority for this exchange is the Act of August 15, 1978 (16 USC 460ii) which established the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA). The selected Federal land is located within the boundary of the CRNRA and is generally described as follows: Tract 111-48B is a parcel of land containing approximately 2.00 acres located on Rogers Bridge Road, Gwinnett County, Georgia. This being the same land acquired by the United States of America by deed recorded in Book 24811, Page 0119, in the Clerk of Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia. Conveyance of the land by the United States of America will be done by a Quitclaim Deed. 2. In exchange for the land identified in Paragraph 1, the United States of America will acquire land, currently owned by C.D. Milam, lying within the authorized boundary of the CRNRA. The acquisition of this land would provide for an expansion of the Suwanee Creek Unit of the CRNRA and due to its proximity to the river, would provide some degree of additional protection to the river by extending the buffer this unit provides. This land will be administered by the National Park Service as part of the CRNRA upon completion of the exchange. The land will be acquired in fee simple subject only to rights-of-way and easements of record. The land to be acquired by the United States of America is generally described as follows: Tract 111-70 is a parcel of land containing approximately 2.00 acres located along the Chattahoochee River, Gwinnett County, Georgia. This being a portion of the same land acquired by C.D. Milam by deed recorded in Deed Book 30236, Page 193, in the Clerk of Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia. 3. The values of the lands to be exchanged shall be determined by current fair market value appraisals and if they are not appropriately equal, the values shall be equalized by payment of cash as circumstances require. If the value of the private property to be acquired exceeds the value of the federal property, the equalization payment will be waived. 4. The lands are being surveyed for cultural resources, endangered and threatened species and environmental site issues. NEPA compliance and documentation is being completed. For a period of 45 calendar days beginning December 31, 2015, interested parties may submit comments to the above address. Adverse comments will be evaluated and this action may be modified or vacated accordingly.
